Plumbing emergency right now? Call 0421 708 999
If water is coming through the ceiling, the toilet is overflowing or the hot water has died, you do not need to read this whole page. Call 0421 708 999. H1 Plumbing & Drainage is open 24 hours, 7 days, and we take emergency callouts from our base in Doonan across Noosa and the Sunshine Coast.
If you have a minute while you wait, the rest of this page covers what we fix, the quick steps that limit damage before we get there, and how a callout works from the first phone call to the final clean up.
H1 is a locally owned business led by founder and licensed plumber Harley Branten. We are licensed and insured (QBCC Licence 15344651), and we look after homes, units, cafés, offices and strata properties across the northern Sunshine Coast.
Emergencies we handle around the clock
Plumbing problems rarely pick a good time. These are the urgent jobs we get called out for most often.

Burst and leaking pipes
A burst pipe can push out a lot of water in a short time. It might be a split copper or poly line under the house, a failed flexi hose under the kitchen sink, or a damaged water service out in the yard. We isolate the water, find the failure and repair or replace the damaged section so you can get the water back on as soon as it is safe.

Blocked drains and sewer backups
When a sewer drain blocks, waste water has nowhere to go but back up through the lowest fixture in the house. That is usually the shower, floor waste or an outside gully. It is unpleasant and it is a health risk. We carry high pressure water jetting gear and a CCTV drain camera, so we can clear the blockage and then look inside the pipe to see what caused it, whether that is tree roots, grease or general build up. For more on how we handle drains day to day, see our blocked drain clearing service.

Hot water system breakdowns
No hot water is more than an inconvenience when you have kids to bath, guests in a holiday rental or a café to open. We repair and replace gas, electric and heat pump hot water systems, and we service all brands. If your system cannot be saved on the day, we keep a small temporary unit on standby that plugs into a normal power point, so you are not stuck without hot water while the new one is organised. Our hot water repairs and replacement page goes into the options in more detail.
Stormwater flooding
Heavy summer storms on the Coast can overwhelm downpipes, pits and yard drainage fast. If water is pooling against the house, coming under doors or flooding the yard every time it rains, we can clear blocked stormwater lines on the spot and then talk through a proper fix. That might mean new ag pipe, pits or an absorption trench, designed to suit your block and Queensland standards.
Hidden leaks and water you cannot find
Sometimes the emergency is a damp patch spreading across a ceiling, a wall that feels wet, or a water meter spinning with every tap off. We use compressed air testing of the pipework and a thermal imaging camera to pinpoint concealed leaks in walls and ceilings. Finding the leak first means fewer holes cut in your walls and less damage to repair afterwards.
What to do before we arrive
A few quick steps in the first five minutes can save you a lot of mess and cost. Here is a simple checklist.
- Turn off the water at the meter. The meter is usually near the front boundary, often in a small box or behind a garden bed. Turn the tap on the meter a quarter turn so the handle sits across the pipe.
- Turn off the hot water system. For an electric system, switch it off at the switchboard (it is usually labelled “HWS” or “hot water”). For gas, turn the unit off at its controls or turn the gas off at the bottle or meter.
- Kill power to wet areas. If water is near power points, lights or appliances, switch off those circuits at the switchboard. If you are unsure, stay out of the area and wait for help.
- Stop using the drains. If a sewer is backing up, do not flush toilets, run the dishwasher or washing machine, or shower until the line is clear. Every litre has to come out somewhere.
- Move valuables and soak up what you can. Lift rugs, electronics and furniture off wet floors. Towels along doorways help stop water spreading.
- Take a few photos. Photos of the damage before clean up are handy if you need to talk to your insurer later.
- Call us on 0421 708 999. Tell us what is happening, where the water is coming from and what you have already turned off. That helps us bring the right gear.
Is it an emergency, or can it wait until morning?
Not every plumbing problem needs a callout in the middle of the night. If you are not sure, call us and we will talk you through it honestly. This table is a rough guide.
| Problem | Call now | Usually OK to book in |
|---|---|---|
| Burst pipe or water you cannot turn off | Yes | |
| Sewage coming up through the shower, floor waste or toilet | Yes | |
| No hot water at all | Yes, especially with kids, elderly family or guests | |
| Water near power points or through a ceiling light | Yes, switch off power first | |
| Yard or house flooding during a storm | Yes | |
| Slow draining sink or shower | Yes, but do not leave it too long | |
| Dripping tap or running toilet | Yes | |
| Hot water not quite as hot as usual | Yes |
A slow drain or a small drip can become an emergency if it is ignored for weeks. If something has been getting worse, it is worth booking it in before it fails.
How an emergency callout works with H1
Here is what happens from the moment you ring.
- You call 0421 708 999. Tell us the problem and your suburb.
- We help you make it safe. If you have not already, we will talk you through turning off the water, hot water or power.
- We head out. We let you know roughly when to expect us, and we call if anything changes.
- We find the cause. Using the right gear for the job, whether that is a drain camera, jetter, thermal camera or pressure test, we track down what has actually failed.
- We explain your options. You get a clear explanation of what we found and an upfront price before the main work starts, with no hidden surprises.
- We fix it and clean up. Once the repair is done, we test it, tidy up and let you know if anything else needs watching.
If the full repair needs parts or a second visit, we will make the property safe first and organise the rest with you. For booked jobs, our on-time guarantee applies. If we are late for your booking time, you get $50 off the first hourly charge.

Emergency plumbing FAQs
Are you really available 24 hours a day?
Yes. H1 Plumbing & Drainage is open 24 hours, 7 days. If you have a plumbing emergency at any hour, call 0421 708 999.
What counts as a plumbing emergency?
Anything that is causing damage now or is a health or safety risk. Burst pipes, water you cannot turn off, sewage backing up, no hot water, water near electrics and storm flooding are the common ones. If you are not sure, call and we will tell you honestly whether it can wait.
How much does an emergency plumber cost?
It depends on the job and what has failed. We do not quote blind over the phone, but we always give you an upfront price before the main work starts, with no hidden surprises.
Where is my water meter and how do I turn it off?
It is usually near the front boundary, in a small box or behind a garden bed. Turn the tap on the meter a quarter turn so the handle sits across the pipe. If you cannot find it, call us and we will help you look.
Can you fix a burst pipe on the same visit?
Often, yes. If a part needs ordering, we will make the line safe and get your water back on where we can, then come back to finish the repair.
My sewer is backing up into the shower. What should I do?
Stop using every tap, toilet and appliance that drains into the sewer, and call us. We clear the line with a high pressure jetter and can run a camera through it to see why it blocked.
What if my hot water system fails and cannot be repaired straight away?
We keep a small temporary hot water unit on standby that plugs into a normal power point. It gets you by until the new system goes in. See our hot water system options for more on repair versus replacement.
Do you handle emergencies for businesses and strata?
Yes. We look after cafés, shops, offices and strata properties, as well as homes. For businesses, we also offer quarterly preventative maintenance to cut down on surprise breakdowns.
Do you service my area?
We are based in Doonan and cover Noosa, Noosaville, Tewantin, Sunshine Beach, Coolum, Peregian, Maroochydore and the wider Sunshine Coast. Give us a call and tell us your suburb.
